following Jesus by growing up, giving back, and going forth

about us

At Horizon Baptist Church, we are all about Jesus. Our mission is helping people follow Jesus by growing up spiritually, giving back generously, and going forth in evangelism. We grow up as we study His Word together in community. We give back as we minister to others in His name. We go forth as we reach out into our local and global communities through evangelism and missions.

Hello! We are the Bundy family: Jacob, Liz, Jacqueline and Jessica. My wife and I have a passion to serve the Lord and to help others come to know Him and grow in their relationship with Him.

I grew up in a Christian home in Florida, and Liz grew up in a pastor’s home in Maryland. We managed to meet in California while attending college in Lancaster. Liz received her degree in Elementary Education, and I graduated with a degree in Pastoral Studies from West Coast Baptist College. We were married in January 2016 and then blessed to add Jacqueline and Jessica to our family in 2020 and 2022!

I love all things related to sports and am an avid reader and learner! Before heading to California, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from the University of Central Florida and have since obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University.

Liz loves teaching children, baking, playing the piano, and hosting families in our home. We hope to meet you soon!

OUR BELIEFS

WHAT WE BELIEVE

A church is always about "belief".

What people believe has tremendous impact on how they live, the things they value and how they find purpose. Everyone “believes” something. Not all churches “believe” the same thing and many don’t follow what they say they believe. Horizon Baptist Church accepts the Bible to be the Word of God and thus, it is the source of truth and all that we believe.

It is a Book to be trusted and embraced. Its pages are filled with God’s personal message to the human race. In it we find hope and direction for our lives and our families. God is alive and very much interested in us, His special creation. He has chosen to communicate with us through His Word, the Bible and we are wise to believe and follow it’s words.

Below is a brief summary of teaching we have gleaned from the Bible only. No man-made documents or edicts were considered – the Bible is sufficient and we have done our best to be faithful students of it.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. For reasons of preservation and textual reliability, we preach from the King James Version of the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by free will through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19

Triune God

God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, – three Persons and yet one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 26:19, I Corinthians 8:6

The Father

God the Father is the first Person of the Trinity. He is the Originator of all things. The Father sent the Son into the world to be a sacrifice for the sins of man.

I Corinthians 8:6, Acts 17:28-29, I John 4:14, Matthew 11:27

The Son

Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man to redeem us through His shed blood. He was born of a virgin and is true God and true man.

Luke 1:30-55, John 1:1-15, Philippians 2:5-8

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit of God is a person who has personality and all the attributes of Deity. We believe the Holy Spirit has always been involved in the affairs of mankind. However, we believe He has a special ministry which began at Pentecost and will continue until the Rapture. This ministry includes convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit was also sent to regenerate, sanctify, seal, and fill all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

John 3:5-6; John 14:16; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:15; I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Corinthians 12:13

Sin

Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death (eternal separation from God). Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sinful nature.

Genesis 2:16, Genesis 3:16-19, Romans 3:10-23, Romans 6:23

The Sacrifice of Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ suffered, shed His precious blood, and died as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the whole world. He physically arose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind.

Luke 24, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 5:8-10, I Peter 3:18

The End Times

Jesus Christ Himself will soon come again and His people will be caught up in the air with Him at that time, the believers will be rewarded for their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the earth to set up His kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.

Matthew 24:29-42, I Thessalonians 4:16-18, Revelation 19:11-20:13
